A new destination for global bathroom design: Sydney Gallery opens

With the opening of the new Sydney Gallery, LAUFEN and Roca have created more than a showroom. They have delivered a design-led destination that reflects their position as global leaders in bathroom innovation, architecture and design culture - and offers Australian architects and designers a world-class space for inspiration, dialogue and exchange.

Located in Surry Hills, the Sydney Gallery becomes part of Roca Group’s international network of Galleries found in design capitals such as Barcelona, London and Shanghai. Each Gallery is conceived as a cultural space first and foremost - one that connects global thinking with local context - and Sydney is no exception.

Bringing together two globally renowned brands exclusively available through Reece in Australia, the Gallery represents a shared commitment to supporting the local design community with access to international design leadership, technical excellence and considered architectural experiences.

From the outset, the Gallery moves beyond the conventions of product display. Instead, it has been curated as an architectural environment that explores how the bathroom is evolving as a space for wellbeing, innovation and contemporary living. The result is an immersive experience where materials, light and spatial sequencing are as integral as the collections on display.

The lower level is dedicated to LAUFEN, where the space takes cues from the elemental origins of ceramics. Earthy tones, tactile surfaces and exposed concrete create a grounded and precise environment that reflects LAUFEN’s Swiss heritage and deep expertise in ceramic innovation. Here, collections are presented with clarity and restraint, allowing materiality, proportion and technical refinement to take centre stage.

In contrast, the upper level introduces the world of Roca, shaped by the brand’s Mediterranean DNA. Lighter, warmer and more open, the space features soft palettes, curved forms and architectural elements such as breeze blocks. Mediterranean references are subtly reinterpreted through an Australian lens, responding to Sydney’s coastal sensibility while reinforcing Roca’s commitment to accessible, everyday design.

Beyond the exhibition experience, the Sydney Gallery has been conceived as an active forum for the design community. The space is designed to host talks, events and professional gatherings that encourage discussion around architecture, design and contemporary ways of living, bringing together architects, designers and specifiers from across Australia.
