If black and white just isn’t your style, or you find the boho look too eclectic for your home, you might be interested in a traditional or neo classic bathroom. Let’s look at how you can easily craft these heritage inspired looks for your next bathroom renovation.

Tried and True: Traditional

Traditional bathrooms have that sense of historicity about them, using little details to evoke the romantic era. Who doesn’t want to revisit in the past at times?

Get the look: Don’t over-accessorise. Simple styling will let your chosen products have maximium impact. A classic style vanity like the Kado Era works for the traditional look without sacrificing storage. For fixtures, look to create that federation charm. Think intricate detail, and products with that have heritage-inspired feel like Kado Classic taps.

Traditional bathrooms keep the same finish throughout: Traditional bathrooms have traditional finishes. That means chrome or gold, and stick to it throughout the room. Nicolazzi Taps are the perfect chrome choice for a traditional bathroom, with old-fashioned lines yet a modern commitment to quality.

Modern Styling and Old World Touches: Neo Classic

If traditional bathrooms are all about looking back with modern touches, neo classic bathrooms are modern with a touch of tradition. It’s the best of both worlds, keeping that commitment to vintage while bringing through contemporary highlights to up the luxe factor and create an impressive space.

Get the look: Go bold. Neo Classic bathrooms use showpieces to make a statement. Lose the clawfeet and consider a more contemporary freestanding bath, like the elegant and striking Kado Lux Petite or the angular and sophisticated Kartell by Laufen Solid Surface Bath.

Like traditional, don’t overstyle a neo classic bathroom: Change up your shapes. Look for sharper edges like the pointed profile of the AXA Cento Wall Basin, or the Roca Inspira Vessel Basin with its extra-thin ceramic edges. There’s plenty of opportunity for experimentation.

Use colour. Traditional bathrooms tend to have more netural and muted palettes. Neo classic bathrooms are about opulence. Find a more dramatic palette. Use rich and deep colours like purples and blues, and marble or terrazzo tiles for extra indulgence.

Mix up your finishes. Your finishes aren’t limited to chrome and gold. Start thinking about a variety of more opulent finishes, like Milli Axon taps that pairs matte black and chrome. Consider new brushed gunmetal finishes that update a traditional look.

If you already have a traditional bathroom, a Neo Classic look might be the perfect transition. A quick semi-reno could give your bathroom an update and add a modern twist. If you want to see how the experts craft a neo classic look, check out Alisa & Lysandra’s Design Duo series and Albert Park renovation.
