Latitude 37: The Art of the Bespoke Australian Home

For almost two decades, Latitude 37 has shaped Melbourne’s luxury home landscape with its unmistakable blend of design intelligence, craftsmanship and collaboration.

Founded in 2006, the studio delivers a full-service experience, from concept and architecture through interior design and construction -- creating residences that feel both deeply personal and effortlessly refined.

Their portfolio spans Melbourne’s east, south-east and bayside suburbs to the Mornington Peninsula, with recent expansion into the city’s inner north. Across every project, Latitude 37’s approach remains the same: a commitment to design quality, material integrity and the kind of considered detail that turns a house into an experience.

For Reece, this is a rare opportunity to witness our expansive range of product be showcased across six very different – but equally beautiful – residential home projects. It is a timely reminder of our unique place in market, serving a variety of products, prices, and looks, all in one location.

This season, a selection of six standout homes captures the practice’s evolving vision of Australian luxury.

In Mount Eliza, two sister projects — View House and Retreat House — redefine the idea of a coastal sanctuary. Conceived in collaboration with Aych Architects, both homes disappear into the surrounding bushland, their sculpted forms opening to creek-valley views and dappled light. Inside, limestone, black finishes and living greenery bring a sense of calm and connection, while sustainability sits at the core with 6-star energy ratings and passive-design principles. These are homes that breathe — attuned to landscape, season and wellbeing.

Their Black Rock project takes a bolder, more urban turn. Winner of the 2024 HIA Victorian Custom-Built Home award, it marries sculptural monochrome architecture with warm timber and natural stone interiors. Curved walls, skylit corridors and a striking lap-pool outlook define a home that balances precision with softness — proof that luxury can be as much about restraint as it is about grandeur.

Down the coast, the Mount Martha project stands as a quiet study in light, view and proportion. Positioned on a dramatic coastal escarpment, the home’s glazing dissolves boundaries between inside and out, while passive solar orientation and a central pool anchor family life around comfort and connection. It’s a beautiful example of timeless, site-responsive design that hugs the landscape on which it was built.

In comparison, their second Mount Eliza project channels mid-century ease with floating concrete steps, timber panelling and sunlit courtyards. Winner of the 2022 HIA Spec Home of the Year, it exemplifies Latitude 37’s talent for translating classic cues into contemporary living with a home of calm proportion and enduring warmth. Finally, the stunning Templestowe Lower project reveals the firm’s adaptability on challenging urban sites. Built on a steep 650 m² block, it layers family-friendly practicality with sculptural finesse: curved brick walls, dappled screens and a muted, tactile palette bring harmony to a highly functional three-level home.

Across these projects, a clear narrative emerges — architecture and interiors working as one, materials chosen for longevity and feel, and a deep respect for how Australians live, gather and unwind. From limestone kitchens to soft timber joinery, Reece fixtures and fittings play a quiet but essential role: elevating everyday rituals and grounding each space in comfort and quality.

Together, these homes affirm Latitude 37’s place at the forefront of contemporary residential design where luxury is not about excess, but about balance, authenticity and the lasting beauty of a home… made just for you.
