Nestled in the heritage-lined streets of Albert Park, Project Banksia by Arli Homes with interiors by DKO Architecture, is a thoughtful blend of old and new. It’s a home that balances past and present, form and function, beauty and wellbeing. Built on a compact inner-city block, it shows how smart design can create a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Melbourne.
From the beginning, the vision was clear: to create a home that feels restorative, connected and deeply considered. Every material and finish was chosen with purpose.
Natural light plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of the home. Large glass doors and carefully positioned skylights allow daylight to pour in, softening the boundary between inside and out. This generous use of light lifts the mood and brings a sense of openness and vitality to each space.
Inside, the palette draws from the Australian landscape, with warm timbers, natural stone and soft, muted tones. These tactile finishes invite touch and create a sensory experience that feels both grounding and luxurious. More than just visual appeal, these textures encourage moments of pause and reflection, turning everyday routines into mindful rituals.
The bathroom is where wellness becomes most personal. Deep soaking baths and premium tapware elevate daily rituals into moments of restoration. The design is calm and uncluttered, with clean lines that help quiet the mind.
The Milli collection is a standout feature, with elegant curves and finishes like brushed bronze and matte black adding a touch of quiet luxury. From the Milli Mood Edit shower to the Milli Pure Progressive Bath Mixer, every detail is designed to enhance the experience.
With a heritage overlay guiding the design, the exterior respects its historic surroundings through weatherboard cladding and face brick. Contemporary lines add a bold contrast, resulting in a home that feels both rooted and forward-looking.
Cohesion across spaces is key to creating a home that feels intentional and elevated. By matching finishes, shapes, and styles across the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry, Project Banksia achieves a seamless visual transition. This consistency not only enhances the overall interior design but also signals a premium, well-thought-out approach. It’s a subtle yet powerful way to reinforce the home’s sense of calm and quality.
Project Banksia is more than just a house. It’s a philosophy brought to life through design. Arli Homes and DKO Architecture have created a space where wellness is considered in every detail –from the way light moves through the rooms to the textures that invite calm.
