During Main Bathroom Week on The Block, we asked you to submit all your bathroom renovation questions for our expert consultant, Michael, to answer. We’ve collected your most asked questions, here’s what Michael had to say…
“Functionality is key in this space,” says Michael. “The two things you should consider are space and layout. You don’t want the bathroom to feel cramped and overcrowded.”
Start by thinking about how each zone works together. A well-planned wet area will feel open, practical, and easy to maintain. The ‘U’ shape of The Block main bathrooms lends itself perfectly to a wet area style with contestants building some incredible walk-in spaces.
“My advice is both,” Michael says. “Your overhead will give you a drenching experience, whereas your handpiece is multifunctional. It’s also really helpful for cleaning that space.”
A dual shower setup gives you the best of both worlds. Overhead showers create a luxurious rainfall effect, while hand showers are great for rinsing, cleaning, and flexibility. Some of our favourites as seen on The Block are from our Mizu Drift, Milli Etch and Milli Mood collections.
“There’s no real pros and cons of either,” Michael explains. “It depends on functionality, space, and climate.”
Walk-in showers offer a clean, open look and work well with certain spaces and floor plans. Enclosed showers help retain warmth and are often more practical in cooler areas. Think about how each option fits your lifestyle and the overall feel you want to create.
“This is a great question and we get asked it all the time,” says Michael. “What goes in the wall is actually a high-density, high-impact unit that has no joins. This means it’s 100 percent leakproof.”
All our in-wall cisterns are built for durability and easy access. The sealed design prevents leaks, and maintenance is simple thanks to the accessible button panel. You won’t need to remove tiles or open up walls to service the unit.
“There’s no ‘which is better’ here,” Michael says. “They both serve a great purpose.”
Freestanding baths are perfect for making a statement and work well in larger bathrooms. Built-in baths are ideal for smaller spaces and offer a seamless, integrated look. “If you’re tight on space but want that freestanding look,” Michael suggests, “a great option is the back-to-wall bath.” The back-to-wall style is also growing in popularity, as it’s easy to clean and gives you more flexibility with your layout.
“Yes, you absolutely can,” Michael confirms. “Just jump on our website and book a free consultation with any consultant in the network.”
