The Block has sparked plenty of conversation this season. From bold vanity choices to layout debates, there’s been no shortage of inspiration. We’ve heard your questions, and our product expert Alex is here to share her take on the trends, materials, and design decisions that are shaping bathrooms right now. Whether you're renovating or just dreaming, here’s what you wanted to know.

1. What bathroom furniture trends are you seeing right now?

“We’re seeing a lot of fluted textures and soft curves,” says Alex. “They add detail without being over the top.” Warm and darker timber tones are making a comeback, bringing richness and depth to bathroom spaces. Statement benchtops are also having a moment, with travertine-style stone and chunkier profiles adding visual impact. “Slim shaker profiles are trending too,” Alex adds. “They blend traditional shapes with a more modern feel.” To achieve these looks, we’re loving vanities such as the Kado Neue Fluted Vanity and the new thick tops of the Posh Domaine Vanities as we’ve seen on The Block.

2. What should I consider when choosing a shower for my bathroom?

“When choosing a shower, start with how you like to shower,” Alex advises. “Do you want that open, walk-in feel or do you need something more compact?” From there, think about the setup. Rail, overhead, or both? Twin rail showers are popular for their flexibility, combining a handpiece and overhead in one design. “If you’re after a cleaner, more minimalist look,” Alex says, “you can split the overhead and handpiece for more freedom with your layout.” This years’ contestants were big fans of the Mizu Drift and Milli Marq showers for achieving this look and feel.

3. What’s the difference between solid surface and ceramic – and which one’s more durable?

“Both are super durable,” says Alex. “It really comes down to the look and feel you’re after.” Ceramic offers a classic glossy finish and is easy to clean. Solid surface has a softer, matte texture and allows for more flexibility in shape. “It’s the same material all the way through,” Alex explains, “so you can easily buff out small marks if needed.” The Kado Lussi collection in solid surface has been a popular choice for baths and basins this season.

4. How can I personalise my vanity to suit my space and style?

“Every single vanity here at Reece can be customised to your space and style,” Alex says.

Start with the cabinet finish. Choose from timbers, matte colours, or fluted textures for added detail. Then select your benchtop – stone, solid surface, or timber for a natural touch. “You can also play with benchtop thickness, handles, and basin layout,” Alex adds, “to suit how you use the space every day.”

5. What are your top tips for creating a timeless bathroom design?

“Style you love will always feel timeless,” says Alex. “So go with what you love.” Her advice? Focus on functionality and quality materials. Choose products that can grow with you, like good storage, easy-to-clean surfaces, and practical designs such as twin rail showers or back-to-wall baths.

6. How do I choose the right mirrored cabinet for my bathroom?

“We offer a wide range of mirrored cabinets,” Alex explains. “It’s about finding a shape that complements your vanity and overall bathroom style.” Beyond keeping clutter out of sight, many designs include thoughtful features like internal power points, cable pass-throughs for a cleaner look, and integrated LED lighting to make everyday tasks easier.
