Q1. Can underfloor heating be installed on sand?

Yes, installation of underfloor heating can be done in exactly the same way on the reinforcing mesh when building on sand. It is recommended for better efficiency of the system to use a layer of insulation between the sand and the slab.

Q2. Is an underfloor heating system more efficient than ducted air?

Yes. Because it uses the entire slab as a heating surface, and creates the heat where it is needed - around the body and not the head - the system can be run at a lower temperature and requires less energy to run, saving up to 20% on gas bills.

Q3. Do I need a qualification to install an underfloor heating system?

Auspex Radiant and REHAU provide all the training required to be able to install the underfloor heating system, and with completion of all the training modules you can receive a full certification as an Hydronic Heating underfloor heating installer.

Q4. Do I need to purchase any additional items outside of the kit to complete my installation?

The Smart Clip tool and supply line pipe (to connect the boiler to the manifold) are sold separately to allow for variability in your installation requirements. Everything else you need is included in the kit.

Q5.  Do Auspex Radiant and REHAU offer design and technical support? 

Yes, a full design service is available to provide a complete plan of piping runs, and specification for the system settings, and their teams are available to provide further support on site.

Q6. How long does it take to install an underfloor heating system?

As an approximate guide, it takes about a day for the initial install of a system in a standard home before the concrete pour, then about half a day for final commissioning of the system.
