Green Plumbing is the New Black

30 September 2014

Consumer demand for environmentally friendly products has increased dramatically over the last ten years. Now more than ever tradespeople including plumbers are being called upon to help their customers make decisions about the installation of energy efficient products.

In response to this trend, the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) has developed 10 ‘Green Plumber’ training courses designed to arm plumbers with the knowledge they need to have conversations with their customers around energy efficient product and system selections, installation and maintenance techniques and likely running costs.

With everything from water conservation to irrigation systems on offer PICAC has got green plumbing covered.

There are even two specialty courses on hot water:

  • Solar hot water – this one-day course is designed to help plumbers with providing recommendations and advice on the selection and installation of solar heated water systems.
  • Commercial hot water – this one-day course is aimed at helping plumbers to make recommendations to customers in relation to energy efficient commercially heated water systems, including gas, electric, solar and/or heat pump heated water systems.
