Keep it cool this summer with Tecumseh

23 November 2015

With the warm days of summer upon us keeping food and drinks cold is a must, whether it’s at home or when purchasing from your local supermarket, petrol station or milk bar.

Long gone are the days when refrigeration involved cooling using ice and snow. Lucky for us, the invention of mechanical refrigeration means we can enjoy seasonal food supply year-round and ice cold beverages in an instant.

Specialising in air-conditioning and refrigeration, Tecumseh was one of the early pioneers of mechanical refrigeration, inventing in 1937 the first sealed (or ‘hermetic’) compressor for consumer refrigerators.

By the 1950s Tecumseh was synonymous with commercial refrigeration and central home air-conditioning. This was followed in 1959 by the first-ever high-speed hermetically sealed compressor for commercial applications.

Tecumseh invests significantly into the research, development and innovation of product engineering and manufacture. They partner with R&D facilities at universities around the world to engineer product solutions and provide insights into how Tecumseh products interface with humankind and the environment.

Today Tecumseh engineers a full line of hermetically-sealed compressors for residential and specialty air-conditioning, home refrigerators and freezers, and commercial refrigeration. Tecumseh provides a robust energy efficient refrigeration solution designed to handle Australia’s extreme temperatures. They also produce indoor and outdoor condensing units, evaporator coils, heat pumps, complete refrigeration systems and authorised spare parts.

A wide range of Tecumseh refrigeration equipment is available at Reece HVAC-R stores. Visit to view the range.
