Park in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, the Cliffside Retreat is truly the height of bathroom indulgence. Taking the bathing experience outdoors, a freestanding tub is positioned on a back deck, replacing walls with an immersive view of the natural environment. The bath remains part of the greater bathroom space by way of a series of floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that completely retract and blur the boundaries of where the bathroom begins and ends. Indoors, wooden surfaces and natural tones prevail to emphasise the connection to the rural landscape, encouraged by a wooden shower floor that extends across the entire width of the space and draws the eye out towards the bath and beyond. The above-counter basin is a luxurious choice that accentuates an indulgent hotel feeling. Wall-mounted fittings help to keep a smooth visual flow throughout. The whole experience culminates in the inclusion of an outdoor shower built into a wall of rock and surrounded by the outback, in what can only be described as a truly spectacular bathroom indulgence.
