The Block 2019: Meet the Teams

Calling all Blockheads—The Block is back on Channel Nine this month, returning to our screens with what insiders are dubbing the biggest Block ever.

The renovation competition that captivates the nation sees five pairs of contestants take on the challenge of creating a home that will attract Australia's property elite. 

This year’s season sees the 10 Blockheads take over five individual terraces at The Oslo Hotel on Grey Street, St Kilda, was once one of Melbourne’s most prestigious streets back in the 1800s. In need of some TLC, The Block hopefuls will transform the property into some of the hottest real estate in the country.

Meet This Year's Contestants

Mitch & Mark

Ages: 56 & 57
Professions: Marketing Manager & Business Manager
From: New South Wales
Style: Mid-century luxe

Expert property flippers Mitch & Mark have transformed properties across Sydney. They’ve also been on Aussie Property Flippers so are sure to be a force to be reckoned with. Can these passionate interior design enthusiasts and granddads steam ahead to take home a victory?

Jesse & Mel

Ages: 29 & 30
Professions: Real Estate Agent & Administrator
From: Victoria
Style: Neo Classic

St. Kilda locals Jesse & Mel know the market—and area—pretty well. They’ve previously renovated together, which could also work in their favour. Fun fact: Jesse was the auctioneer who sold last year’s contestants, Courtney & Hans' apartment. Small world!

Tess & Luke

Ages: 27 & 29
Professions: Sales Partner & Carpenter
From: Queensland
Style: Contemporary Australian

Newlywed couple Tess & Luke reside in northern Queensland and having recently tied the knot, plan on putting their new relationship to the test this season. Tess’ passion for design and Luke’s carpentry skills should stand them in good stead, but only time will tell…

Andy & Deb

Ages: 45 & 47
Professions: Business Owner & Tafe Admin (and Comedian!)
From: New South Wales
Style: Australian luxe meets Californian cool

You may recognise Andy, a regular on the comedy circuit and touring comedian. However, he and his wife Deb are no strangers to renovations, having worked together renovating their fashion and homeware store last year. We wonder if they’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

El'ise & Matt

Ages: 33 & 38
Professions: Brand Fashion Manager & Carpenter
From: West Australia
Style: Contemporary industrial

Fashion manager El'ise and carpenter Matt didn’t make the cut for The Block last year. Now they’re back, confident they have the skills to win in 2019. Determined to give it their all, could it be second time lucky for these two?
