Return to the Powder Room
Whether you’re home or away for the summer, you can always use some project and renovation inspiration. Here are four projects to inspire your 2019 reno.
Welcome to 2019. Celebrations are wrapping up and there’s finally space and time to think about the year ahead. Whether you’re at home or away this holiday season, there’s always room for home renovation inspiration.
Here are four Australian homes designed to inspire your 2019.
Country Retreat – Gledswood Hills
The winning design of House and Garden’s My Ideal House project, this Sydney home was designed specifically for a modern Australian family, made to be sustainable, flexible, and future-proof. It features an impressive open-plan living and entertaining area. It has plenty of natural light with open welcoming outdoor areas incorporated.
The powder room is designed for guests and takes advantage of the organic lines of the Mizu Soothe Basin Mixer Set to match the sustainable element of the home. The accompanying Alape Unisono Counter Basin compliments the mixer’s profile with an elegant ultra-thin edge. The ensuite emerges naturally from the bedroom, and the water-saving Roca Meridian In-Tank reflects this house’s environmental commitment in a compact design where the cistern and buttons are integrated into the pan itself.
Finally, the family bathroom is modern and continues the home’s warm and light colour palette. The Kado Lussi Freestanding Bath adds the organic feel with its rounded design, while the shower zone features a Nikles Pure Rail Shower and a Mizu Drift Overhead to create a lavish showering experience. This home and its environmental aesthetic perfectly complement the surrounding countryside.
Inner City Abode – St Kilda
This Art Deco home dates back to 1935 and hadn’t been renovated in 25 years. It was in desperate need of an upgrade. New indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces brought this home into the 21st century, with the renovation team also adding a bright new kitchen and additional bathroom enveloped in natural light.
Designed to seamlessly integrate with the home’s monochrome palette, this bathroom carries a unique industrial feel, with an extremely moody palette. Charcoal tiling sets the mood of the space, with contemporary Mizu Soothe tapware in matte black. The Mizu Drift Twin Waterrail Shower matches the black palette, standing out from the tiles behind a frameless shower screen. This inner city bathroom embraces its urban surrounds with flawless execution.
Coastal Cottage - Noosa
Parakeet Cottage is a beachside cottage in Noosa built in the 1980s. This renovation was a sophisticated update designed to evoke the beach surrounds while maintaining a modern edge. The designers settled on a black and white theme, with timber and mint highlights producing a contemporary coastal cottage feel.
The ensuite features the Milli Pure Wall Basin Mixer. Its clean, round design complements the white herringbone tiles, and the matte black finish ensures a sophisticated look. The Roca Inspira Soft Vessel Basin’s organic curves soften the room, leaving it with a tranquil day-spa feel. The main bathroom ups the luxe factor with the stylish Posh Solus Freestanding Bath, and an antique console re-purposed as a vanity bringing the bathroom back to its roots.
Stylish Suburban Ensuite – Mentone
This hotel inspired ensuite in Mentone proves the power of a unified theme. Black and white with grey accents, the wall hung vanity and frameless shower screen enhances the spacious feel. Dual Alape Circa Basins in matte black make for a striking feature on the white benchtop, and the two tone Milli Axon Basin Mixers both match and contrast the basins. The Nikles Pure Twin Waterrail Shower delivers the ultimate shower experience. This is a modern bathroom with plenty of edge, suitable for a fashionable young family.
